The Islamic republic of Afghanistan is an inland country in southwest Asia. It is bordered by Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The head of state is president.
Climate is dry continental. Average temperature in July in flat lands is +24 °С to +30 °С. In January its about 0 °С, but in mountains the temperature is much lower. It is agrarian country. The base of the economy is agriculture. The most developed sectors are horticulture, livestock sector and wine-growing.
There are many architectural monuments here. The main places of interest are National Museum of Afghanistan, Kabul Cathedral, Guldara and Logar valleys. Old Afghani nobles’ villas can be seen in Pagman valley. In Bamian the Buddhist monastery of IV century is placed inside the massif. It contains 2000 grottos and the monuments to Buddha.
