Devonport - a city in the northwest of Tasmania in a river Mersi mouth. Together with the city of Barni is the main regional centre of a northwest part of the state. The area has been open by captain Charles Hardvikom in 1823. The city was originally known as port. Only in 1981 Devonport has been declared by a city.
