Echuca - a city located on river bank Murray in staff Victoria. The name occurs from the Australian word meaning "Meeting of Waters". After the European settlement natives have replaced the way of life. In particular many have conceived a liking for tobacco and alcohol. Fishery, agriculture became their basic employment. Within several decades their way of life became absolutely unlike that their ancestors conducted. In 1870 Echuca was the greatest river port of Australia. Also it became a key railway junction. It has been connected with small distance to Melbourn. The wool, grain, livestock, wood were the most popular cargoes then. Such state of affairs promoted fast growth of the population. In the end of 19th century the area has endured an economic crisis and the population has decreased.
