Inverell - a city in the north of the New Southern Wales, located on the river Makintir. The name has the Gelsky origin and "the meeting of swans" means. Also the area was known as "the Green bog". In 1848 Alexander Campbell has started to develop agriculture in area. In 1853 the district began to export wheat. In 1875 in a local stream the diamonds which extraction proceeded till 1922 have been found out. Now the city is engaged, as before, in wheat cultivation, and also winemaking, corn and barley cultivation. Also till now extract diamonds. In this connection a city sometimes name "the Sapphire City". The city possesses the hugest water basin which works only on 3 % of the possibilities.
