The republic Dominica is located on the island with the same name. It belongs to the Lesser Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea.
Dominica was opened by Christopher Columbus on November, 3rd, 1493, he has given it the name of Dominica, which means "Sunday". The republic remained the independent state for 200 years.
Climate is tropical. The temperature practically does not change within all year and stays at +27 °С. From June till October tropical downpours are characteristic for a climate of Dominica.
The basis of economy of republic is in agriculture. Export of bananas brings 50 percent of the income to the country budget. Also tourist industry is developed.
Picturesque evergreen woods cover the slopes of volcanoes and in valleys there are picturesque falls.
In capital city Roseau there are many historical monuments of architecture. The Botanical garden and the national park Morn Trua Python with the unique tropical fauna are very popular among tourists.
