Eritrea is located in Northeast Africa. In the east it has an outlet to the waters of Red Sea. Climate is subequatorial deserted. The mid-annual temperature fluctuates from +23 to +37 °С. From ancient times the territory of Eritrea belonged to the Ethiopian kingdom of Axum. In the end of 19th century these lands have been conquered by Italians. Eritrea became the independent state in May, 1993. The head of state and the governments is the president. The country is divided into 10 provinces. The basic employment of the population of the country is an agriculture. About 80 percent of the population is engaged in it. Here they grow up millet, wheat, corn and other cultural plants. Most part of architectural sights has been destroyed during the long wars which were passing on the territory of the state. Only the Corinthian Columns of a neoclassical Palace of the Governor, Romance porticoes of the Opera House, the Catholic cathedral, a city mosque and some other sights have remained here.
