The republic of Gambia is located in the western part of the African continent. The country borders only on Senegal. In the west it is washed by the waters of Atlantic Ocean.
Climate is equatorial monsoonal. The season of rains lasts all year and only during the period from May till October takes a break. The mid-annual temperature fluctuates at a mark of + 25 °С.
In 13 - 16 centuries the territory of Gambia was a part of Mali and Songhay empires. Then till 1889 Gambia was sequentially French and British colony. Gambia became independent in 1965, and since 1970 it is a part of British Commonwealth.
In Gambia there are some large national parks, the largest are Kiang-Vest and River-Gambia. In the reserve Abukko there are over 500 kinds of birds.
Also in the country there are large resort centers Kotu, Bakau, Kololi, Fajara.
Various festivals often pass in Gambia.
