Guatemala is the most northern country of Central America. East coast of the country is washed by the Caribbean Sea and western by the Pacific Ocean.
It is the country of volcanoes and mountains, the country’s most part is covered by mountains, and another part of territory is covered by equatorial woods, which are periodically submerged. On the territory of Guatemala earthquakes and eruptions of volcanoes are common.
Climate is subequatorial monsoonal. The mid-annual temperature, considering a various relief, fluctuates from +16 °С to +30 °С.
The basic sights of Guatemala are monuments of a civilization of Maya tribes.
The city of Guatemala (capital) has been formed in 1776 then it has received a name of New Dormition Guatemala. Schools, cathedrals, office buildings, monasteries have been constructed there, but these monuments of architecture have not remained at all as the city was often collapsed by earthquakes.
The city of Antigua Guatemala is the main tourist centre of the country. There are many buildings, palaces and churches which have been built in a Baroque style. This city is surrounded by volcanoes Serro de la Cruise, Fuego and Agua.
Along the coast of the country there are small resort cities. People there are always glad to see tourists.

This professional holiday was founded by the Decree of the President of Russia № 1279 from October, 31st, 2002 in commemoration of 200-year-old anniversary of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among diplomats also there is a version, that Day of the diplomatic worker is celebrated on February, 10th as this day in 1549 there was earliest mention of the Ambassadorial Order, the first foreign policy department of Russia.
