When traveling Ireland, be sure of one thing: Don't hold the Mayo. Many tourists do, and they miss some of the most spectacular scenery in the country, including beaches, mountains, lakes and much more. Tucked in northwest Ireland, County Mayo has Atlantic coastline on the west and north and is punctuated by mountains throughout. The most famous is Croagh Patrick, Ireland's holy mountain, where St. Patrick is said to have banished all the reptiles from the island. Thousands of pilgrims annually trek to the summit, where stands the highest (altitudinally speaking) church in Ireland. Other religious sites in the county include abbeys, friaries and the Knock Shrine, where residents claimed to have seen a vision of the Virgin Mary in 1879. Achill Island, the largest island off Ireland's coast, is connected to the mainland of County Mayo by a bridge. The island's attractions include resorts, seaside cliffs and Rockfleet Castle, home of legendary pirate queen Grace O'Malley.

This professional holiday was founded by the Decree of the President of Russia № 1279 from October, 31st, 2002 in commemoration of 200-year-old anniversary of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among diplomats also there is a version, that Day of the diplomatic worker is celebrated on February, 10th as this day in 1549 there was earliest mention of the Ambassadorial Order, the first foreign policy department of Russia.
