At its core, Galway is an old college town. Situated on Galway Bay in County Galway in western Ireland, the town of 38,000 is a mecca for the twenty-something crowd. The county itself is divided into two regions by Lough Corrib, with the Connemara lying to the west of the lake. The Connemara is a scenic area along the Atlantic coastline dominated by the Twelve Bens mountains. It is home to the Connemara pony, as well as many Gaelic-speaking folks who treasure the ancient Gaelic culture. The seaside resort of Salthill and the archeological-rich Aran Islands are other area attractions.
