The island state of Madagascar is situated on the island with the same name and small islands around it. Islands are in Indian Ocean, near to the African continent.
Climate is tropical. In summer the average temperature is +30 °С and in winter it is near +13 °С.
In XIV-XV centuries on the island of Madagascar there was a state Imerania. Till 1896 the country remained the independent state and then it became the colony of France. Now Madagascar is constitutional republic which is a part of the French Community. The country is divided into 6 provinces.
The republic of Madagascar is the agrarian country; here there are various kinds of food and plants. In the western areas of Madagascar the cattle breeding sector is developed.
On islands there are rich deposits of semiprecious stones, graphite and chromite.
On island there are many various natural sights like geysers, falls and lakes which were formed in craters of extinct volcanoes.

This professional holiday was founded by the Decree of the President of Russia № 1279 from October, 31st, 2002 in commemoration of 200-year-old anniversary of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among diplomats also there is a version, that Day of the diplomatic worker is celebrated on February, 10th as this day in 1549 there was earliest mention of the Ambassadorial Order, the first foreign policy department of Russia.
