Kuala Lumpur often abbreviated to KL, is the capital and the largest city of Malaysia. The city proper, making up an area of 244 km2, has an estimated population of 1.6 million. Its conurbation, known as Klang Valley, has an estimated population of 6.9 million, the twenty-second largest agglomeration in Asia and the forty-second largest in the world. It is the fastest growing metropolitan region in the country, in terms of population as well as economy.
