Baie du Tombeau is a bay in northwestern Mauritius, formed at the mouth of the Rivière du Tombeau. The bay is located six kilometres to the north of the nation's capital, Port Louis. The bay's name, which translates as "Tomb Bay", is a reflection of its hazardous waters for ships; many were wrcked off the coast here. One casualty of these wrecks was 17th century Dutch East Indies governor Pieter Both, whose ship foundered here in 1615. A mountain inland from Port Louis is named in his honour.
