In republic extraction of bauxites, coal, magnesium and iron ores is presented. The main agricultural products, grown up by local population are cotton, sugar cane, corn, cassava and others.
The island Ile de Mozambique declared a world heritage of UNESCO. It is connected with continent by the bridge. On this island there is the Palace and Chapel San Paulo which have been constructed in XVIII century, the Museum of Sacred Art in which it is possible to see various religious ornaments, pictures and sculptures and also San Sebastian Fort, built in the Middle Ages.
