General Information: Aarlanderveen is a town in the Dutch province of Zuid (South) Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn, and lies about 4 km east of Alphen aan den Rijn. History: Aarlanderveen was first documented when Floris IV of the Netherlands and Machteld of Brabant (14th centuries) came across the city. The village across centuries was in possession of different noble families, among which were Van Oudshoorn and Van IJsselstein. At the beginning of the Renaissance between 1584 and 1593 Aarlanderveen was controlled by a field-marshal Ernst van Mansveld of Von Mandelsloh. The area around the village is a rich natural cultural landscape and is full of meadow birds such as plovers, common redshank and black-tailed godwit’s. There are also many types of followers growing around the town such as Lotus uliginosus, Ranunculus flammula and Lychnis. Aarlandenrveen is famous for the only working mill’s in The Netherlands. There are also several large farms, two churches, a cemetery, and five working mills.
