Green Point is an inner-city neighbourhood of Cape Town, Western Cape located to the north west of the central business district. It has become a prime residential address for young professionals and is the prime address for the Cape Town gay and lesbian community. Many new mid-rise apartment and mixed-use developments have gone up in recent years. Somerset Road forms the main thoroughfare lined by numerous upmarket restaurants, cafés, boutiques and nightclubs. This area also boast the Green Point Common, where the new Green Point Stadium is being constructed for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Numerous infrastructural developments will take place, with the upgrade to Western Boulevard and the new Granger Bay Boulevard being constructed, along with a massive investment in creating an urban park around the stadium.
