Slovakia is located in the Eastern Europe. Most part of its territory is located in the Western Carpathians and High Tatra. The head of the state is the president. The main legislative institute is the National Counsil.
In Slovakia the winter is cold and summer is hot. In the autumn it rains all over the country.
It is industrially-agrarian republic. Especially developed sectors are agriculture, ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy. The main industrial centers are Bratislava and Coshice.
In Bratislava all the city sights can be seen during the walk. Old Radnica (XIII century), the Primasa Palace with famous Mirror hall, St. Martin's cathedral, a museum of wines are located here. Also it is possible to visit the biggest beer restaurant of the Central Europe, the Mamout.
In the historical centre of capital it is forbidden to drink alcohol. The complex of “Aqua City” is located in the city of Poprade, it is ecologically clean place. It makes it good for spending holidays there.
Near this place here is Golden Sands resort and also the fortress complex of Devin. Here there are a lot of caves and thermal springs.
One of the best winter sports centers is located in Tatra mountains in the Zagradisht area.

This day in 1941, on the second day after the introduction of German armies in Riga, in Latvian capital eight synagogs have been burnt together with thousand Jews. This day entered history as "crystal night".
