Montseny is a mountain range west of the coastal hills north of Barcelona. The area was created a national park and roughly occupies a triangle created by the AP-7, C-17 and C-25 roads. It contains the highest mountains in the area south of the Pyrenees and dominates the valley south of Girona. The national park was made a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1978.
