Ukraine is located in the southern part of the Eastern Europe. It is washed by the Black Sea and the Azov. Ukraine is the republic. The head of state is the president. Almost all territory is a plain with separate uplands. In the western part the Carpathians are located. In Carpathians there is the highest point of the country, mountain Goverla (2061 m above sea level). Average temperature of January is - 8 °С, and in the summer it’s from +18 to +24 °С. The large rivers are Dnepr, Dnestr, Donets, Danube, Southern Bug. Ukraine is the industrial-agrarian country. Mining, food and light industries, ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy and agriculture are developed. Famous resorts are the Southern coast of Crimea, the group of resorts in Odessa, Eupatoria, Morshin and Mirgorod. The main sights are the Cathedral of St. Sofia (XI century), Kievo-Pecherskaja monastery, the Botanical garden in Kiev. Here, on the bank of Dnepr, the Hydropark is constructed. In Kharkov there is a Pokrovsk cathedral (XVII) and Patriarchal church.
