Saltash (Cornish: Essa) is a town in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It has a population of about 16,000. It lies in the extreme southeast of Cornwall, facing Plymouth over the River Tamar. It is in the Caradon district and is known as "the gateway to Cornwall". Saltash means ash tree by the salt mill.
