Sleat

Sleat is a peninsula on the Isle of Skye in the Highland council area Scotland. It is the home of the clan "MacDonald of Sleat". The name comes from Sléibhte, Scottish Gaelic for a plain, which well describes Sleat when considered in the surrounding context of the mainland, Skye and Rum mountains which all dominate the horizon all about Sleat. Sleat is quite a Scottish Gaelic speaking area, with over 40% of the population able to speak the language according to the 2001 census. There have been rows over whether to establish a school on Sleat that teaches all of its lessons through the medium of Gaelic. Sleat is a traditional parish that has several communities, two major landowners (the Clan Donald Lands Trust and Eilean Iarmain Estate), and Scotland's Gaelic College, Sabhal Mór Ostaig. Sleat Community Trust (Gaelic: Urras Coimhearsnachd Shlèite), the local development trust, intends to purchase the 'Skye Ferry Filling Station' at Armadale and in common with many communities is investigating the options for renewable energy production. It also owns Sleat Renewables Ltd., a timber production. In October 2007 the Trust hosted the Highlands and Islands Community Energy Company annual conference.

The important reason to celebrate Day of Stomatologist on February, 9th, is that it is also day of St. Appolonia. The reason is surprisingly attractive image of Appolonia, reached us through centuries.
