The republic Uruguay is located in a southeast part of South American continent. In the southeast it has an outlet to the waters of Atlantic Ocean.
Climate is subtropical oceanic. Weather is dry. The average temperature of January is +23 °С, and in July it is +12 °С. Before the invasion of Spanish conquistadors on the modern territories of Uruguay lived tribes of Indians. Now Uruguay is constitutional republic. The head of state is the president.
Sights of capital Montevideo are neoclassical church Kabildo and Iglesia-Matriz, Museum Del Gaucho i de la Moneda, the National museum of history.
In capital vicinities there is the highest building in the country. It is 26-storeyed Palasio Salvo, constructed in 1927.
In the eastern part of Montevideo there are resort zones Atlantis, Minas, Piriapolis and others.

This professional holiday was founded by the Decree of the President of Russia № 1279 from October, 31st, 2002 in commemoration of 200-year-old anniversary of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among diplomats also there is a version, that Day of the diplomatic worker is celebrated on February, 10th as this day in 1549 there was earliest mention of the Ambassadorial Order, the first foreign policy department of Russia.
