Costa Rica is situated on the neck of land between South and North America. In the north it borders on Nicaragua and in the southeast on Panama.
For Europeans Costa Rica was opened in 1502 by Christopher Columbus.
Climate is subequatorial. Seasonal fluctuations of temperature are insignificant. The mid-annual temperature is +27 °С. Flora and fauna of Costa Rica is very rich. Pumas, jaguars, deer, monkeys, reptiles and a considerable quantity of insects live in various tropical woods.
Costa Rica is the agrarian country that makes production basically for export (bananas, coffee, tobacco, cocoa-beans, sugar cane).
The main natural sights of the country are active volcanoes. In the capital city San Jose the buildings of the Spanish architecture remained and in museums it is possible to see unique subjects of the Indian life.
Also Costa Rica is known for the ethnic food which bases on rice, black pod and meat.
It is interesting, that for the evasion from voting in elections, the penalty is imposed on citizens of Costa Rica.
