The municipality of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Sambuca val di pesa, San Donato in Poggio, Tignano, and Badia a Passignano. Tavarnelle Val di Pesa borders the following municipalities: Barberino Val d'Elsa, Castellina in Chianti, Certaldo, Greve in Chianti, Montespertoli, San Casciano in Val di Pesa.
