Size isn't everything. Vaduz may be a small town (pop. 5,000) in a tiny country (30,000 people and 60 square miles), but it has a lot to offer. As the capital of Liechtenstein, it is the focus of the nation's government as well as its tourist industry. Located in the western part of Liechtenstein on the Rhine River, Vaduz is dominated by Vaduz Castle, which sits on a rock formation above the capital. Home of the Prince of Liechtenstein, the castle dates to the 12th century. It is not open to the public. Among the other attractions in Vaduz are the Liechtenstein State Art Collection, the Liechtenstein National Museum, the National Library of Liechtenstein, the Parish Church St. Florin, the Ski-Museum and the Postage Stamp Museum. A memorial to composer Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, complete with his music archives, is another Vaduz highlight.
