The Lithuanian republic is the largest state in the Baltic region. It is located in the Eastern Europe and washed by Baltic Sea.

The most part of territory is low plain. Here there are many national parks.

Lithuania is the industrial-agrarian country, the leading branches are metal working, mechanical engineering, oil refining. Art crafts are developed.
The huge number of historical, architectural, archaeological monuments of XIII-XVI centuries is concentrated in the city of Vilnius. The medieval castle can be seen in the city of Trakaj, «the Museum of devils» and a monastery of XVII centuries can be visited in Kaunas. An amber Museum is located in Palanga.
Beautiful nature and soft climate create fine conditions for rest on resorts of Lithuania. These are cities of Kyarnava, Birstonas, Klaipeda, Trakai, Druskininkai, Palanga.

This professional holiday was founded by the Decree of the President of Russia № 1279 from October, 31st, 2002 in commemoration of 200-year-old anniversary of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among diplomats also there is a version, that Day of the diplomatic worker is celebrated on February, 10th as this day in 1549 there was earliest mention of the Ambassadorial Order, the first foreign policy department of Russia.
