This state is located in the southeast of Europe, on Balkan Peninsula, in river Vardar’s basin.
It is the republic with the president in the head of it. Middle-high mountains occupy the most part of Macedonia. The climate here is Mediterranean. Summer is hot and dry, average temperature of July is + 22 °С and winter is rainy and has temperature near - 2 °С.
The country is known as the manufacturer of high quality tobacco. The winemaking, a forestry, fishery and agriculture are also well developed.
One of the famous resorts is Ohrid mountain Lake that is the cleanest lake of Europe. The city of Ohrid is located ashore, it is known for the architectural monuments (St. Climent’s church from XIII century, a basil of St. Sofia (XI century).
On the territory of Macedonia the ruins of the cities of Geraklen, Skupy, Stoby still remain from IV century.
