The state is located in a southwest part of Europe, on Iberian Peninsula and on the islands in the Atlantic Ocean.
It is republic; the head of the state is the president.
Climate here is subtropical. Summer is usually hot and winter is rainy. In Lisbon the maximum temperature is +26 °С, minimum one is near +9 °С.
Portugal is the industrial country. The most developed industries are the textile industry, agriculture, shipbuilding and forestry. The "siesta" is an every day tradition of this country. At this time most offices and shops are closed.
The Portuguese kitchen is based on fish, meat and vegetables. Here there are fortresses like St. George’s, museums like the Sea museum and also it is possible to see the Cathedral and the Belem tower.
The city of Sintra is a city of royal palaces, parks, fortresses (Klesh palace , Pen palace).
Algarve is a resort zone of Portugal. It constitutes a strip of beaches (about 150 km long). Also it is possible to have a rest in the Koshta du Sole and Portimau.
The largest yacht-club in Europe is located in the settlement of Villamoura.
