Far Eastern Academy of Arts was founded in 1962. It was the first higher school of Russia uniting three arts: music, theatre, and painting. At present, the Academy is a centre of professional education in the corresponding fields in the Russian Far East.
The Academy enrols about 450 full-time students and more than 100 extra-mural ones studying at three departments: Music, Theatre, and Art. A special department for foreign students was established for young musicians and artists from China, Korea, and Japan.
The building of the Academy has a concert hall, a library with a reading-room, an LP and CD library, a video-room, lecture-halls and class-rooms, art studios, and a canteen.
In the Academy, there exist a symphony orchestra, a classical choir, a Russian folk instrument orchestra, a chamber music theatre, various chamber music ensembles, and art studios. The teachers of the Academy perform regularly in the Academy itself and make guest performance tours in the countries of the Asian Pacific Region.
The teachers of the Art Department keep and maintain the best traditions of the Russian painting school and more than once have they been awarded at various international exhibitions.
The Academy holds a regular international competition for young musicians and organises art exhibitions. Foreign students participate in the city Russian language contests.

The origin of the holiday is in antique times when the Bulgarian lands were occupied by the tribes of the Thracians. Thracians worshipped Dionis, the God of wine and grapevines, more than other gods.
