Biar is a Valencian town located in the comarca of Alt Vinalopó, in the province of Alicante, Spain. It has an area of 98.2 km² and, according to the 2003 census, a total population of 3,550 inhabitants, with a population density of 36.15 inhab/km². Biar lies at the foot of the Sierra de Mariola and is located 39 km from the city of Alicante. The economy in Biar is based on manufacture, particularly dolls, and pottery. The most important monument in the town is its walled castle, which is situated on the top of the hill, visible from the roads leading into the town. The Moros y Cristianos festival of Biar is celebrated each year from May 10th to 13th.

From July, 6 till July, 14th in Pamplona is celebrated a holiday, devoted to St. Fermin, bishop living in ХIII century, who rescued Pamplona from plague epidemic. Being first purely religious, later the holiday has turned in colourful national celebrations.
