Surinam is located in South America in its northeast part.
Climate is subequatorial, hot and damp all the time. The season of rains passes two times a year: from December till January and from April till July. The average annual temperature is +26 °С.
Till the time when Surinam became the colonial country, on its territory Indians lived. In 1975 the country became the independent state with the republican system of government.
In the country there is ample quantity of various minerals (iron ore, zinc, copper, cobalt, etc.), but active extraction is produced only in bauxites and gold sectors. The great value for a national economy has wood-working and paper industries.
The main remarkable sight of Surinam is the National Park Brownsberg. It is considered the greatest park of wild evergreen tropical wood in the world.

This professional holiday was founded by the Decree of the President of Russia № 1279 from October, 31st, 2002 in commemoration of 200-year-old anniversary of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among diplomats also there is a version, that Day of the diplomatic worker is celebrated on February, 10th as this day in 1549 there was earliest mention of the Ambassadorial Order, the first foreign policy department of Russia.
