Fowey Hall-Member of Von Essen Hotels a private collection of individual country houses in the UK, Scotland and France. Fowey Hall sits atop Fowey town in Cornwall in 5 acres of rambling gardens and dramatic views of the river estuary- Polruan and out to sea. As a Luxury Family hotel- Fowey warmly welcomes families for a truly relaxed and delightful holiday or short break. Life at Fowey Hall is very much home from home and as a friendly and informal atmosphere in an intimate setting. With 36 bedrooms- including many suites and interconnecting rooms- it is a perfect retreat for all seasons. The hotel has an indoor pool and creche. A wooden outdoor play area and sandpit within the grounds. There are also plenty of summer lawn games at your disposal including croquet- badminton- cricket and soft tennis. Children meals are available twice a day or you can dine together in the Conservatory. Or a quiet dinner for two in the main restaurant or in warmer months al fresco. The town and the local sandy cove at Readymoney are both a short walk away and the hotel is within easy reach of the many superb attractions in Cornwall including The Eden Project- just a short drive. Completed in 1899- the hotel is rich in architecture with its baroque plasterwork- vaulted ceilings- exotically wood paneled public rooms and elaborate fireplaces. In years gone by it is said to be the inspiration for Kenneth Graemes toad of Toad Hall in his book Wind in the Willows and regularly welcomed royal visitors but today the mansion welcomes everyone.

The origin of the holiday is in antique times when the Bulgarian lands were occupied by the tribes of the Thracians. Thracians worshipped Dionis, the God of wine and grapevines, more than other gods.
